Shop.org has blogged about a study on the impact of social networks and group buying on shopping.

Online consumers are actively following retailers on social media sites, and half of them are clicking through to their online store. They want to hear about deals and coupons, as well as product info, new ideas and trends, customer reviews, and see photos or videos.

Smartphones are making this even easier, with apps to “like” or favorite things on the run, and share your thoughts with friends and other potential consumers.

When it comes to group buying, surprisingly men are more likely to be spending the big bucks, and a third of all customers have reported spending $100 in total.
