If you are not on Pinterest, you need to get there… now!
Unlike Twitter or Facebook, having a lot of Pinterest followers isn’t really necessary for getting some exposure. And at present, the links are do-follow.
But there are plenty of good reasons to get there and start pinning.
- When creating your boards create some that are keyword rich and some that are fun.
- Pin some of your own content that has great images
- Pin other peoples content with great images
- Describe your boards… you have up to 500 characters.
- Describe accurately and not keyword stuff
- “Like” other peoples pins if they are interesting but not your topics
- Comment on other peoples pins
- Make sure your comment is something other than nice pin
- Follow boards that interest you as a person
- Follow boards that interest you as a business person
- Follow a funny board
- Find your Facebook Friends on Pinterest
- Invite your Facebook friends to join you on Pinterest
- Unfollow boards that don’t interest you
- Create a hacked up board used PicSlice
- Share other peoples pins… like the Pin via Facebook
- Check out what videos are being pinned
- Re-pin some of the those videos to your boards
- Install a WordPress plugin for Pinterest
- Add your boards to your blog
- Remember there is an etiquette to Pinterest
- Be respectful of that etiquette
- Add a board for your books, ebooks and books you adore
- Tweet your pins
- Don’t tweet every pin
- Thank people for re-pinning… it starts a conversation
- Re-pin your clients
- Re-pin your friends
- Re-pin really good things
- Tell people what you like about the things you have pinned
- Fill in the descriptions on your pins
- Have themed boards
- Plan something using a board… an event, a holiday, a wedding
- Collaborate on a board
- Invite others to pin on a similar topic to build a great resource
- “Like” boards
- Add $ to your description and make your pin a gift
- See what pins are getting re-pinned the most
- Write a blog post and embed your pin images into it
- Add the Pin bookmarklet to your browser
- Add the Pinterest app to your iPhone
- Talk back to people when they interact with you
- Help others use Pinterest
