Depending on which industry, choosing ways to write exciting emails can be challenging.
The good news is that no matter what the industry, there is almost always a way to add a touch of excitement to a company’s emails with unique subject lines, videos, tips, and product or service announcements.
Email marketing software can help substantially and when combined with some of these tips, boring emails will be no more.
Make the Subject Line Personal
By making the subject line more specific and personalized, the chance that it will be opened increases. If your business is using transactional email, which is a vital aspect of email marketing, getting a customer to open an email will potentially make a world of difference.
Always Include a Tip
People will open and then read the emails sent if there is an answer to a simple question, “What is in it for them?” Clients love emails that teach them something. Just pushing products will most likely cause the reader to send those emails into their spam folder or trash can.
Consider Using Video
Brainshark’s Brendan Cournoyer shared some rather compelling numbers related to utilizing video in email marketing. The 2012 Digital Marketer Benchmark and Trend Report from Experian showed that including the word video in the email’s subject line increased overall click-through rates from 7 percent to 13 percent in 2011. Also, by embedding a video within an email, the average conversion rate was 21 percent higher than the emails containing only a static image. One great way to incorporate video into company emails is to make a trailer for a Webinar or some other event.
Replenishing & New Product Announcements
For those who sell products that need to be replenished, setting up automated messages is a good idea. Setting up an automated message that is timed to go out right before current customers need their refills makes it more likely they will reorder. Let current customers know about any new available products. Those who have already purchased products from a business are the easiest market. Even if there is an update to a product that they have previously purchased, email them to let them know.
“Easter Egg Marketing”
This is a relatively new kind of marketing. In the virtual world, an Easter Egg is usually defined as a hidden message, inside joke, hidden function on a game, program, Web page or email. There a several ways one may find the hidden Easter Egg. He or she may need to just mouse over the page and look for the hidden item. Once the Easter Egg has been found, he or she may be given features to the game, program, site or some other kind of information. Easter Eggs have been utilized on DVD menus and computers for more than 30 years.
An email can say something to the effect of “this email has a promo code hidden within it and whoever finds it first receives 20 percent off their next order!” Many times, this practice will entice consumers to read the emails a company sends.
Email-marketing software used with these tips should create an effective template for sending emails:
- More fun.
- Engage readers.
- Encourage consumers to read every line, in an attempt to find the hidden code.
- Keep customers interested by not always attempting to “sell” them something.
Whether sending out mass emails or single customer emails, keep them fun, interesting and informative. Chances are, clients will be glad to see that they have mail.
