Let me understand this…

Someone spends time and money (millions of dollars) to create a “free-to-use” social platform that enables people to reach out and connect with friends, family, fans, clients and customers, prospective clients and customers, occupiers, supporters, contributors, voters, businesses, organizations, politicians and news events. And we “opt” to use these platforms and share our personal photos, videos and information.

social-media-logos-and-iconsWe applaud people who steal from individuals, businesses and/or organizations that are trying to keep their information secret. And then “decide” what they’ve stolen should be shared with everyone. Based on that (any chosen) concept, everything is up for grabs… an individual or entity can “decide” that any information (of yours or about you) should be known by everyone.

At some point, common sense (and the American way) tells us that these platform developers will want a return on their investment.

So… is there (realisticly) an expectation of privacy? Or a hope and desire of it?

PS: ‪#Social media‬ technologies are great innovations… I use it everyday. I don’t post anything that would cause me to slit my wrist if the world found out about it. Just like I try not to leave my wallet on top of the gas pump or give telemarketers my SS number. And if I want someone to see a body part, I call and ask them to come over.

‪OK… let me know what you think (I’m wearing my seatbelt).
